About the Festival

Established in 2001. year, Liburnia Jazz Festival – by the recognition, number of concerts and visitors – is definitely the largest jazz festival in Croatia and the region.

The festival started in Lovran, but in 2003 got moved to Opatija, the leading Croatian tourist destination with a reputation of "Pearl of the Adriatic Sea." Every first weekend in July, Jazz lives in Opatija. More than 4,000 visitors from all Croatian regions and neighbour countries pilgrimage Liburnia Jazz Festival every year. Our goal is to bring jazz music to those whose "ears" are not accustomed to jazz, and to those who think that jazz music is only for musicians. Our job is to convince them otherwise. We are proud of the fact that we succeed in it from year to year.

We invite truly exceptional musicians whose personalities and artistic work shows what jazz is, and what it will become. In addition to great concerts on the main stage, there is an off Festival program, called Street Jazz. It takes place at seven locations in the city from an early afternoon until evening.
