MARIA JOÃO | OGRE

Maria João – vocal / João Farinha – fender rhodes, electronics / André Nascimento – laptop / electronica

Maria João (born Maria João Monteiro Grancha) is a Portuguese jazz singer.

She is known for her vocal flexibility and improvisational skills. While normally considered a jazz artist, her music incorporates a mix of folk/ethnic music, modern jazz,avant-garde, >electronica, symphonic and other genres.

OGRE je elektronski trio i posljednja avantura Marie Jõao – hybrid jazza i elektronske glazbe. Ova neobična postava vodi publiku na putovanje svijetom zvukova preskačući granice između digitalne i analogne glazbe.

Although her main musical partner is Portuguese pianist Mário Laginha, she has worked with many musicians throughout her career, including Aki Takase,Manu KatcheTrilok Gurtu, Bobby McFerrin, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Joe Zawinul, Ralph Towner, Dino Saluzzi, Kai Eckhardt, Gilberto Gil andLenine.

OGRE is Maria Jõao’s latest adventure – a hybrid of jazz and electronic music.

An unusual instrumental line-up and an outside-the-box approach takes audiences on a trip through a world of sounds, criss-crossing the borders between digital and analogue.

Maria Jõao’s voice will be your guide.
